Amazing place between Lauwersmeer and Wadden Sea
The Lauwersmeer on one side, the Wadden Sea on the other. This campsite in the north of the Netherlands is situated in a beautiful spot. There is always something fun to do at Siblu Camping Lauwersoog. Especially for the children: the large indoor playground and water playground. Especially for you: the delicious food in restaurant Het Booze Wijf. This Groningen campsite is the starting point for a special seal expedition. You can also sail to Schiermonnikoog from the campsite.
Between Lauwersmeer and Wadden Sea
The Lauwersmeer used to be called the Lauwerszee. This sea was attached to the Waddenzee. It was not until 1969 that the two seas were separated. The Lauwerszee was closed off with a long dike because people were afraid of flooding. The land became dry for a large part. The water that remained was called Lauwersmeer. You can celebrate your holiday exactly at the place where the dike was built. That is where Siblu Camping Lauwersoog is located. Quite a unique holiday spot in the far north of the Netherlands.
Playing with water
A holiday by the sea is not complete without a dip in the water. So it's a good idea to bring along a swimming costume. Also for the children, even if it is only because of the fun water playground. You will find it next to the restaurant. Here the children can climb, jump, slide and play with water. Which is educational too. Is the weather not so good for playing outside? Then they can quickly move to the large indoor playground.
Restaurant Het Booze Wijf
The camping restaurant is named after the point where Lauwersmeer and Waddenzee meet. At that point, the water used to be often stormy and quite dangerous. That's why it was given the name 'Het Booze Wijf'. In restaurant Het Booze Wijf, you can enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner. Breadboard, steak or fresh fish: almost all products come from the neighbourhood. Very handy: the terrace of Het Booze Wijf is right next to the playground. So you can easily keep an eye on your playing children.
Falling asleep with the sound of the Wadden Sea
At Siblu Camping Lauwersoog you can choose from a number of cosy chalets or one of the even more luxurious mobile homes. You can sleep comfortably with the whole family in these. Have a nice breakfast on your own terrace in the morning and then enjoy the whole day in and around the campsite. And in the evening, of course, it is fun to play a game together. And if you lie very quietly in bed at night, you might even hear the Wadden Sea!
Cycling along the Lauwersmeer
The Lauwersmeer route is forty kilometres long and passes right by the campsite. You can rent various types of bicycles at the campsite. The route will take you past lovely Groningen villages. There, you will receive a warm welcome in tea houses and on pavement cafes. And of course, you will cycle a large part along the water. So you will also see enough of the Lauwersmeer and the Wadden Sea.
Seal spotting and bird watching
A really special experience is a seal expedition. Especially if you come across seals. There are plenty of seals along the Dutch north coast, so the chances are good. And if not? Then just enjoy the wind in your face and the view. A day at Schiermonnikoog is also recommended. You can sail there from the campsite. Schiermonnikoog is a wonderfully peaceful spot, without cars, with beautiful dune areas and bird-spotting locations. So take your binoculars and walk towards the Westerplas, the place to be for bird spotters.
